ECO in the House of Commons

A representative of Essex Coast Organisation will be attending a cross-party Parliamentary briefing in the House of Commons on Tuesday, looking at a UK wide initative to deliver more and better jobs for coastal communities.

The New Economics Foundation (NEF) is leading the Blue New Deal initiative, already supported by multiple coastal actors, and is calling for a transformation of our approach to managing the UK’s wealth of marine assets to shape a more sustainable UK coastal and marine economy. The project will seek to demonstrate how coastal areas can be revitalised to deliver good jobs and economic sustainability for coastal communities in the future.

Coastal MPs of all parties share similar issues. The parliamentary briefing is an opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the UK coast, as well as what needs to happen in order to deliver the Blue New Deal vision.
