VERY lucky Boxing Day

Yet another reminder on how important our sea defenses are, as Boxing Day 2016 saw a HUGE 1.5 metre tidal surge (created by the low pressure system brought in by Storm Connor) come down the East coast... the only reason it didn't hit the National headlines is because it thankfully came at low tide. If the surge had coincided with a high tide, then there would have been major flooding from overtopping/breaching of sea defenses.

As it was, the surge slipped down the East coast without most people noticing... but hopefully the details of this huge tidal surge will at least make it to in front of decision makers!
